Getting Started

Installation

How to install semtest on your machine.

npm

Install semtest globally with npm:

bash
npm install -g @westopp/semtest

After installing, verify it works:

bash
semtest --help

npx

Run semtest without installing:

bash
npx @westopp/semtest run

This downloads the latest version on every invocation โ€” no global install needed.

Homebrew

Install via the semtest tap:

bash
brew install westopp/semtest/semtest

curl

One-line installer that checks prerequisites and installs via npm:

bash
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/westopp/westopp-libraries/main/scripts/install.sh | bash

Adding semtest to your PATH

If semtest is installed but your shell can't find it, you need to add the npm global bin directory to your PATH.

Find the npm global prefix:

bash
npm prefix -g

Then add the bin subdirectory to your shell config:

bash

Add to ~/.bashrc:

bash
export PATH="$(npm prefix -g)/bin:$PATH"

zsh

Add to ~/.zshrc:

bash
export PATH="$(npm prefix -g)/bin:$PATH"

fish

Add to ~/.config/fish/config.fish:

fish
set -gx PATH (npm prefix -g)/bin $PATH

After editing, restart your terminal or source the file:

bash
source ~/.bashrc # or ~/.zshrc

Uninstall

Run semtest uninstall to see instructions for your installation method.
